The shaping process requires hundreds of precisely angled hammer strikes, each one slightly overlapping the previous to create the signature hammered texture. The artisan controls the wall thickness through feel and experience—thin enough for comfortable drinking yet substantial enough for durability. The rim is rolled and smoothed for a pleasant mouth feel, and the base is shaped with a slight foot or flat bottom for stable table placement. What makes each piece unique is the antique patina application. Artisans apply chemical patination solutions selectively, creating variations in color from deep bronze to warm copper to hints of verdigris. The patina is then selectively buffed on raised surfaces to reveal brighter copper underneath, simulating the natural wear pattern of an antique vessel that has been handled and admired for generations.
