Product Details

Custom Minimalist Bowl-Style Glossy Brass Flower Vase redefines the traditional flower vase with its low, generous bowl form that brings floral arrangements down to tabletop level for intimate appreciation. Inspired by mid-century modern design principles, this vase strips away ornamentation to celebrate pure form, material, and reflection. Master artisans shape the vase from a single disc of heavy-gauge brass through a combination of hammering and spinning techniques. The bowl form requires careful control of the metal as it stretches outward—too thin and the bowl lacks structural integrity, too thick and it loses the elegant taper that defines the silhouette. The rim is finished with a rolled edge that catches light beautifully and provides a clean visual boundary. The glossy brass surface is the defining feature of this piece. After shaping, the vase undergoes progressive polishing through increasingly fine grits until the surface achieves a mirror-like reflectance. Multiple coats of high-clarity, UV-resistant lacquer are then applied, each coat cured before the next. This lacquer system locks in the mirror finish, prevents fingerprints from etching the surface, and protects against the natural oxidation that would dull bare brass over time. Despite its bowl form, the vase includes a weighted, flattened base section that provides stability even with water and flower weight. The interior can be left as bare brass (for dry arrangements) or, by request, fitted with a removable water-holding insert for fresh flowers. Custom options include varying the bowl diameter and depth, selecting between round, oval, or asymmetrical rim profiles, and adding a subtle engraved line or band at the rim or base.

Care Instructions

Mirror Finish Maintenance

The glossy mirror finish is the vase's most important feature and requires careful handling. Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth using gentle circular motions. Fingerprints are the main concern—handle the vase by its base or with clean, dry hands. If fingerprints appear, buff gently with a dry microfiber cloth. Never use glass cleaner, metal polish, or household sprays, as these can cloud or damage the lacquer coating.

Using with Fresh Flowers

For fresh flower arrangements, use a removable water container or water-holding floral foam rather than filling the brass bowl directly. Water left in contact with brass, even lacquered brass, can eventually seep through microscopic pinholing in the lacquer and cause discoloration. Change the water in the insert regularly and wipe up any spills on the brass surface immediately. The vase is not dishwasher safe and should never be submerged in water for cleaning.

Display & Positioning

The bowl-style vase is designed for low, wide arrangements—think floating single blooms, short-stemmed garden roses, or succulent arrangements. Place the vase on a stable, level surface away from high-traffic areas where it might be knocked over. The reflective surface can concentrate sunlight—avoid positioning where direct sunlight reflects onto nearby flammable materials. For long-term display without flowers, the vase stands beautifully alone as a sculptural object.
