The fabrication begins with a heavy-gauge pure copper sheet that is shaped through a combination of precision hammering and mechanical forming techniques. Unlike vessels assembled from multiple joined sections, this basin is formed from a single continuous copper sheet, ensuring no seams or joints that could leak or become structural failure points. After forming, the basin undergoes an intensive progressive polishing process. Multiple abrasive grades are used in sequence—from coarse grits that smooth the forming marks to ultra-fine grits approaching mirror reflectance. The final polishing uses specialized copper polishing compounds that produce a mirror-like brilliance. This achievement requires significant skill because the basin's curved and concave surfaces reflect light from every angle, making any imperfection immediately visible. The critical step is the application of multiple coats of water-resistant, UV-resistant clear lacquer specially formulated for bathroom applications. This lacquer system must be robust enough to withstand daily bathroom cleaning, constant moisture exposure, and temperature fluctuations.
