Product Details

Custom Hammered Copper Teapot represents the fusion of traditional metalworking artistry with functional water-serving capability. Each teapot is individually crafted by experienced coppersmiths who have inherited generation-spanning techniques for shaping copper through precise hammer blows. The creation begins with selecting a high-quality copper sheet of uniform thickness. The sheet is cut to pattern and initial forming begins through progressive hammer strikes. The artisan progressively shapes the teapot body from a flat disc into a three-dimensional form, with each hammer blow slightly stretching and shaping the copper. The teapot body is formed through hundreds of repeated hammer strikes, each placed with precision to create smooth curves and balanced proportions. The neck is formed separately through a narrowing technique that requires careful temperature and pressure control. The spout is formed and fitted, with special attention to the correct angle for drip-free pouring. The lid is crafted separately with a precision fit. The handle is made from non-heat-conducting materials such as wood or rattan shaped ergonomically. The interior finishing process includes food-grade tin lining application through hot tinning technique, where molten tin is evenly coated across the entire interior surface to form a protective barrier between the copper and water. The exterior is finished with selective polishing and natural patina.

Care Instructions

Use & Cleaning

Rinse the teapot with warm water before first use. After each use, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use soap or detergent on the interior—a hot water rinse is sufficient. The food-grade tin lining protects the interior and requires no special cleaning. Never boil water directly in this copper teapot, as high heat could damage the tin lining.

Tin Lining Care

The tin lining is a critical safety feature that prevents direct contact between copper and water. The lining will develop a warm grayish patina with normal use—this is natural and harmless. If the tin lining becomes scratched or shows wear after years of service, professional re-tinning can be performed. Do not use abrasive materials on the interior surface.

Storage & Display

Store the teapot with the lid open or slightly ajar to allow air circulation and prevent musty odors. The copper exterior will develop a natural patina over time—this is considered aesthetic and does not require polishing. If shine is desired for special occasions, gently polish with a microfiber cloth and a little salt and vinegar, rinse and dry immediately. Avoid soaking the teapot in water.
